When you fit fencing panels between slotted concrete fence posts, it moves the traditional fence panel to another level of reliability in garden fencing. When using slotted concrete posts they will last for many many years without deterioration, whereas timber fencing posts have a shorter life expectancy. Concrete fence posts have yet another benefit because the fence panels that fit between the concrete fence posts are not fixed with nails or screws to the fence post. This means that if the existing fence panel becomes damaged or the fence panels deteriorate over time, a replacement fence panel can be lowered into the space between the concrete fence posts without any specialist tools or knowledge. In theory with the concrete fence posts you therefore have a very long lasting lap panel fence.
I called Brian the certified installer for the Cerlon product and showed him the problem. We decided that we could repair any of the aprons in the project that needed to be repaired using Cerlon. The aprons are 18” wide by the length of the door. We snapped a line half the width of the garage door thickness. We then installed a diamond masonry cutting blade on a skilsaw and cut a ¾” deep cut along the chalk line. The next thing we did is every 3 inches we scored the concrete the length of the door ¾” deep.
